Announcing the First Annual Women in Concrete Forum

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 6, 2005 -- Editors of two of Hanley Wood's commercial magazines -- CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION and THE CONCRETE PRODUCER -- are hosting a networking luncheon for women in concrete at the World of Concrete 2006 in Las Vegas in January.

"We're overwhelmed by the positive response we've had for this event from women in the concrete industry and excited to be part of creating this ongoing networking opportunity for women," says Kari Moosmann, Managing Editor, Books/Educational Products.

The Women in Concrete Forum will bring together women working in the concrete construction industry to network, share industry experiences and identify issues important to them. The Women in Concrete event will take place on Wednesday, January 18th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm in the Las Vegas Convention Center. It is open to all WOC attendees who purchase a ticket for $25 if registered by December 30th or $40 after December 30th.

Featured speakers at the event include:

Joan Blecha, Chairperson for the National Precast Concrete Association, and President of Hanson Pipe and Products Southeast, Inc. Blecha will address the do's and don'ts for women in construction.

Susan Hollingsworth, CEO of Holes, Inc., and the first woman president of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association. Hollingsworth will share her work experiences and talk about the importance of networking.

Deborah Henry, Ph.D., Director of Special Programs, Continuing Education/College of Arts & Sciences at University of Missouri -- St. Louis. Henry has done extensive research on discrimination in the construction industry and will report on her research and current trends.
