Apex Partners With WingTip LLC to Offer New Solutions for Energy Efficiency Based on Schneider Ampla MES Software

BOISE, ID--(Marketwire - April 6, 2010) -  Apex Manufacturing Solutions, an end-to-end provider of manufacturing control and automation solutions, today announced a partnership with automation software distributors WingTip LLC, to implement operations management solutions based on the Schneider Ampla manufacturing execution systems (MES) software.

Among the first markets targeted for these new joint efforts will be monitoring and reporting solutions for the energy industries.

"We're pleased to launch this new cooperative effort because it's a good match for our two companies to combine the outstanding sales and support capabilities of WingTip with the consulting, project management and engineering services offered by Apex," said John Nichols, Apex managing director. "We provide the impact drivers necessary for making more efficient use of energy in manufacturing processes and this dovetails nicely with new marketing programs from both WingTip and Schneider to provide energy cost management solutions that will help companies be more competitive in the global marketplace."

"We're delighted to enhance our sales, training and support services by joining forces with Apex," said David McKay, WingTip vice president of business development. "We feel this combination will offer discrete and process manufacturing companies new and more cost-effective ways to optimize the energy used in operations. The low hanging fruit of facilities energy usage is largely being addressed by programs in the energy producer area, but almost no effort has been leveled at managing operational energy. Process Energy Optimization can lead to energy usage reduction and energy cost reduction, and the tools and expertise are available now with the WingTip/Apex partnership."

Schneider's family of production management software enables businesses to reduce costs and improve production efficiency, performance and profitability in general. Its Energy Module supports plant operational and energy staff in identifying and tracking over-consumption of energy based on production context. It can be used to identify bottlenecks, analyze downtime causes, calculate key performance indicators (KPIs), enhance work-in-progress, and better track the real costs and performance of production operations.

APEX's energy monitoring and reporting solutions provide reports and KPI dashboards that let manufacturing company decision-makers easily view and quickly respond to excess energy use by better scheduling and managing demand, implementing peak "shaving," enhancing optimum asset utilization and providing an audit trail for environmental and energy usage validation. All facets of the APEX energy monitoring and reporting solutions can be integrated with supervisory control and reporting systems to perform these tasks automatically.

"This partnership with WingTip is the first in a series of joint programs we're launching as part of the 'best-of-breed' solutions emphasis we announced recently to expand the breadth of technologies we deploy to include hardware and software offerings from additional industry-leading suppliers," Nichols added. "Expanding our sourcing capabilities to include partners such as WingTip and Schneider enables us to tailor solutions to meet the individual needs of each client with the most appropriate platform technologies for the best technical fit with customer standards, while protecting each customer's existing investments in automation, control, supervisory, reporting and business systems."
