Apoquindo Minerals Appoints Francisco Calaf as Operations Manager for the Apoquindo Copper Oxide Project in Antofagasta Region of Chile

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 27, 2008) - Apoquindo Minerals Inc. ("Apoquindo" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:AQM)(BVL:AQM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Francisco Calaf as Operations Manager, effective November 1, 2008.

Mr. Calaf is a Civil Mining Engineer from the Universidad de Chile, and also holds a Master in Business Administration from Universidad de Chile/ESADE. He has over 18 years of experience in managing mining operations in both major and mid-tier mining companies in Chile. Mr. Calaf has been brought to the Apoquindo team for the purpose of evaluating near term development opportunities for the Apoquindo Copper Oxide Project.

Most recently he was the Manager of Administration and Strategy for Compania Minera Las Cenizas ("Cenizas"), where he was responsible for the implementation of the Cenizas' Strategic Management Model using the Balanced Scorecard and control of strategic objectives. Prior to this role, he was Plant Manager for Cenizas' Cabildo Plant for 5 years, where he managed 80 people and consistently met yearly production goals. He led Cenizas' three year "accident free" record with no lost time and was also responsible for the technological improvement of the Cabildo Plant including engineering, construction and subsequent operation, to expand it from 66,000 tons per month to 84,000 tons per month, requiring a total investment of US$25M.

Bruno Behn, Director and Vice President of Corporate Affairs, and a Civil Mining Engineer who formerly ran the El Salvador Division of Codelco commented, "The hiring of Francisco Calaf for the Apoquindo Copper Oxide Project in Chile is an excellent decision by the Board as he combines skills as a project manager as well as an operations manager, having spent his professional life in mid-tier mining companies performing both these roles."
