OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2010) - On Monday, March 1 at noon, Appleby College will help launch the Deutschmobil, a specially equipped Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that, with its young German ambassadors at the wheel, will travel the country promoting German language and culture to students of all ages. Appleby is pleased to be the official start of Deutschmobil Canada before it begins its three-month, 14,000-km journey.

The kick-off will take place just outside of Appleby's Schlesinger Dining Hall and will feature a Toronto R&B band as well as Appleby student performances. In attendance will be a number of distinguished guests including Frau Sabine Sparwasser, German consul general from Toronto; Frau Sonja Griegoschewski, Goethe-Institut Toronto director; Nicola Townend, president of the Ontario Association of Teachers of German; and Herr Michael Pflueger, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Canada.
