Appointment to the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 12, 2010) - Canada's Transport Minister John Baird today announced the appointment of Mr. Rocco (Rocky) Vacca of Niagara Falls, Ontario, to the board of directors of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority. Mr. Vacca has been appointed for a period of three years.

"I am pleased that Mr. Vacca has agreed to serve on the board of directors," said Baird. "His background in municipal and business law, coupled with his strong community roots, will benefit the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority."

Mr. Vacca holds a bachelor of laws degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a senior partner with Sullivan Mahoney LLP. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Ontario Bar Association, and a founding member, past president and honorary solicitor of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association of Niagara. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Mr. Vacca is actively involved in the community, serving as a member of the United Way Elimination Draw Fundraising Committee and a director of the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Foundation.

The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority has owned and operated the Peace Bridge since 1933. Opened to traffic in 1927, the bridge spans the Niagara River between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York. The authority has a 10-member board with an equal number of representatives from Canada and the United States.
