Appointment to the Canadian Museum of Nature Board of Trustees

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 29, 2009) - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of David E. Bond as part-time chair of the Canadian Museum of Nature's board of trustees.

"I am pleased to announce Mr. Bond's appointment," said Minister Moore. "With his experience as the founding president of the Friends of the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the president of the Vancouver Maritime Museum, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the Canadian Museum of Nature."

Mr. Bond entered the Public Service of Canada in 1972 and held senior positions in various departments, including Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada, Statistics Canada, and the Ministry of State for Economic and Regional Development. In 1989, he was named vice-president of public affairs and marketing at the Hong Kong Bank of Canada and later became the bank's chief economist until he retired in 1998.

Mr. Bond has been on the boards of many organizations, including the BC Wine Institute, the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, the Kelowna Chamber Music Society, and the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. He is also an honorary life member of the board of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. He is currently an adjunct professor of finance at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Commerce and is the author and co-author of books on economics, finance, and business.
