Aptara Takes Two Silvers and a Bronze in the 2009 Prestigious Brandon Hall Learning Awards

FALLS CHURCH, VA--(Marketwire - January 12, 2010) - Aptara, Inc., a global leader in innovative eLearning and custom content development solutions, announced that it has won three coveted Brandon Hall awards for excellence -- two Silvers in the Best Custom Content category and one Bronze for the Best Learning Team category. Aptara was one of only seven companies to win three awards, along with Cisco, IBM, Accenture, CA and Sun Microsystems. Presented annually for the past fifteen years, the awards showcase exceptional work in the use of learning technology, as recognized by Brandon Hall Research, a leading training and development research firm.

"These awards are a testament to our team of over 400 incredibly innovative and talented instructional designers, content developers, and media technologists," said Dev Ganesan, President and CEO of Aptara. "Being in such distinguished company for the honor of not just one, but three awards, reinforces the global stage on which Aptara competes and consistently delivers engaging, high-tech, and effective eLearning applications."

Aptara's Silver Awards were presented in recognition of custom online training courses developed for Thomson Reuters and Lubrizol. The illustrative, scenario-based interactive learning course created for Thomson Reuters featured a hypothetical Thomson Reuters office and two hypothetical employees. The course material was uniquely presented to management through the employees' audible discussions and debates. For Lubrizol, Aptara developed an interactive scenario-based learning module that uses reinforcement and repetition to impart the experience of value selling. Avatars were employed to represent various learner roles, from which they could select and tailor the course accordingly. The audio and visual learning environment allowed the learners to interact with other characters in the 'story,' visualize 'problem' situations, and determine the appropriate solutions and next steps.

Aptara's Bronze Award was given in recognition of the team it formed with ACS Learning Services in 2004 to provide comprehensive solutions to the total learning needs of an organization. Today, ACS and Aptara have provided more than 15 major clients with custom solutions and is a shining example of a successful offshore-onshore partnership.

"The quality of our winning entries is outstanding," said Brandon Hall, Ph.D., chairman of the Awards program. "Our winners are breaking new ground and setting new standards for innovative learning."

A total of 248 entries were originally submitted. The entries were evaluated by independent judges around the world. The winners are listed at www.brandon-hall.com.
