Aria Systems Brings PCI-Compliant Subscription Commerce to Apple iPad

Offers Publishers & Merchants a Fast SaaS-Based Path to PCI-Compliant Subscriptions on iPad

MEDIA, PA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2010) -  Aria Systems, Inc. (http://www.AriaSystems.com), the leading provider of SaaS-based recurring billing and subscription management solutions, today announced that it will deliver Level 1-compliant Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) payment card handling to the Apple iPad for digital publishers and other merchants with subscription and/or usage-based revenue models. The addition of iPad support to the company's hosted Aria Secure Payment Pages solution will help publishers in particular utilize the new Apple tablet to charge for online content.

Like the current Aria Billing and Subscription Management Platform, the company's new iPad-compatible release will support and automate one-time purchases, flat-rate annual and monthly subscriptions as well as advertising-driven and usage-based models individually or in combination. These broad capabilities give merchants maximum flexibility in establishing their fee structures.

The upgrade will add to the advantages of the Aria platform, including a completely hosted and secured online payment environment, customer branding and seamless integration of payment pages with the customer's corporate website, and rapid deployment without the delays and sometimes multi-million-dollar expense of going through PCI certification. Aria Systems has achieved the industry's highest security certification for payment card handling, known as PCI DSS Level 1, eliminating the need for most customers to achieve PCI certification themselves.

Fulfilling iPad's Potential for Publishers

The extension of Aria's platform to the iPad addresses growing expectations that the iPad will solve the financial crisis in the publishing industry spurred by the rise of digital media. Major media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and Conde Nast Publications have already announced plans to make content available on the new tablet. Industry observers believe that the easier reading experience of the iPad form factor, targeted advertising opportunities enabled by features such as customized profile-based content and built-in GPS capability, and Apple's success in changing the business model for selling music will make it possible to generate both subscription and advertising revenues, reversing years of making online content available free of charge.

In addition to digital publishers who are Aria to monetize their publications, the iPad represents a revenue opportunity for many other industries and businesses. For example, AlikeList (http://www.alikelist.com), a social-local marketplace that brings word-of-mouth referrals online, uses Aria Secure Payment Pages and will be able to leverage the iPad for secure subscription commerce with these new capabilities.

"We expect that people will embrace the iPad as another good way to find product and service recommendations from AlikeList," said Jim Delli Santi, CEO at AlikeList. "Aria's support for secure commerce on the iPad lets us offer a secure and convenient way for our business subscribers to take advantage of our word of mouth marketing services."

"As the pioneer in the SaaS billing, it has always been a priority for us to do everything we can to help our customers take advantage of new revenue opportunities," said Ed Sullivan, CEO at Aria Systems. "Bringing Aria Secure Payment Pages to the iPad gives our customers another way to expand their subscription businesses securely and cost-effectively."

The new Aria Secure Payment Pages release adding full support for the Safari web browser on iPad is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter. To learn more about Aria billing and subscription management as well as Aria Secure Payment Pages, please visit www.ariasystems.com/contact
