Arianne Acquires a Polymetallic Property in Opinaca

CHICOUTIMI, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 17, 2006) - In partnership with Vantex Resources Ltd.( TSX VENTURE:VTX), the management of Arianne Resources Inc. (Arianne) (TSX VENTURE:DAR) is pleased to announce the acquisition, by map designation, of the Black Dog polymetallic property located in the Opinaca area, South of the Opinaca reservoir, Northern Quebec.

The Black Dog property comprises 23 claims, including the Black Dog showing (or Lac Hudson) where one previous drill hole intersected 5.62 g/t Au on 11 metres as well as grades of 5.16% Zn and 1% Cu on 0.6 metre (GM49584).

Also, in the recent weeks, 61 claims were added to the Opinaca property. These claims were staked in the north-east south-west extension of the existing property. The new claims protect the existing property and also secures the last remaining greenstone (volcano-sedimentary) portion still available in the area.. Of the 117 claims (6,200 hectares), 94 claims are 100 % owned by Arianne and 23 claims (Black Dog area) are 50% to Arianne and 50% to Vantex Resources.

Arianne (and its partner) now controls a 30 km belt (a few km wide) within the Anatacau-Pivert formation, south contact with the granitoide host rock
( ;
Basic map according to ET2002-06). This belt contains the majority of the orogenic gold mineralizations known so far (according to ET2002-06). Included in this belt is the Contact zone, recently drilled by Arianne where a silicified corridor with significant gold grades was identified on more than 500 m in lenght and 100 meters in depth (see may 4, 2006 press release), the Renard zone (6.38 g/t Au), the Chino zone (7.94 g/t Au on 4.0 m) and the Chino-East zone (6.75 g/t Au). Added to these, different polymetallic showings including the Lac Hudson-West zone (Black Dog showing : 5.62 g/t Au on 11 m in drilling, 5.16% Zn and 1% Cu on 0.6 m in drilling - GM49584).

Mineralization corridor : The volcanic rock belt (Anatacau-Pivert Formation) mesures 50 km by 5 km wide (10 km locally). The majority of the identified gold showings are located within a corridor 1 and 2 km from the south contact of the formation.

The newly acquired Black Dog showing is located in the east part of this corridor and is the only showing that was previously drilled. The following grades were obtained from these works(GM 49584): Drilling LH-88-01 : 7.9 g/t Au on 1.28 m including 15.2 g/t Au, 22.3 g/t Ag, 5,160 ppm Zn and 1,000 ppm Cu on 0.6 m ; LH-88-02 : 5.62 g/t Au on 11 m ; LH-88-03 : 4.32 g/t Au on 0.88 m ; -Drilling (GM 54627): LH-95-01 : 3 g/t Au and 1,250 ppm Zn on 1 m, at 98 m in depth ; LH-95-02 : 1.1 g/t Au on 3 m, at 88 m in depth including 1.69 g/t Au on 1 m ; 900 ppb Au and 1,550 ppm Zn on 1 m, at 102 m in depth.

Results as 5.62 g/t Au on 11 m (GM49584) by drilling are viewed as very promising. This last showing shows elements of an iron formation with a sulfites facies (ET2002-06) and contains silver, zinc and copper.

The management of the company plans to resume works by the end of the month of May This next phase will include 6,000 metres of drilling in order to test many IP and magnetic anomalies as well as verify the potential of the currently known gold showings of the property.

Along with this drilling program, the Company will start an important geological exploration program, including striping, geochemistry and sampling in order to outline additional gold targets outside the currently known gold areas of the Opinaca property. These works will take place from the base camp near the Reservoir.
