Aruba and iDirect Technologies Extend the Edge of Satellite Networks

Integrated Adaptive Wireless LAN and Satellite Broadband Network Allows Cost-Effective Deployment of Secure Mobility Solutions Anywhere, Anytime

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - October 31, 2007) - Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a global leader in user-centric networks and secure mobility solutions, today announced the successful completion of wireless local area network (WLAN)-to-satellite integration testing with iDirect, Inc., a division of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. and world leader in satellite-based broadband communications. The two companies have certified the interoperability of Aruba's secure mobility solution with iDirect's satellite platform, allowing satellite customers to provide a wide area network interface to Aruba's adaptive wireless LANs. Typical applications are expected to include video surveillance, perimeter security monitoring, disaster recovery, distance learning, logistics management, and storage depots.

"By adding Aruba's secure Wi-Fi capability to our platform, we have greatly simplified the manner in which our satellite network is accessed and increased the types of devices that can leverage our wide area connection such as wireless bar code and RFID scanners, Wi-Fi enabled handsets, PDAs, and Wi-Fi enabled cameras and sensors," said Karl Fuchs, director of engineering for iDirect Government Technologies (iGT). "When used in conjunction with iDirect's Comms-On-The-Move capability, mobile convoys can now have access to converged data, video, and voice, while first responders can rapidly deploy Wi-Fi enabled mobile hotspots in disaster areas."

Aruba's user-centric networking securely and reliably brings enterprise applications to users wherever they work -- in the office, at home, in a hotel, on the road. In a user-centric network authorized users can access the enterprise through any network from anywhere in the world. By extending the enterprise to reach all users without compromising security or convenience, Aruba is helping to redefine mobility with respect to where and how people work.

"The integration of secure Wi-Fi and satellite networks will enable our customers to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy secure mobility solutions anywhere, anytime," said Jon Douglas, Aruba's Federal product marketing lead. "The solution is particularly relevant to the Department of Defense, whose far flung applications demand stringent network security and already widely leverage satellite communications. The ability to deliver broadband access via satellite anywhere in the world, and reach any end users over a multi-hop Wi-Fi link with FIPS 140-2 certified encryption from client to core, makes for a very compelling deployment scenario."

About Aruba Networks, Inc.

Aruba securely delivers the enterprise network to users, wherever they work or roam, with user-centric networks that significantly expand the reach of traditional port-centric networks. User-centric networks integrate adaptive WLANs, identity-based security, and application continuity services into a cohesive, high-performance system that can be easily deployed as an overlay on top of existing network infrastructure. Adaptive WLANs deliver high-performance, follow-me connectivity so users are always within reach of mission-critical information. Identity-based security associates access policies with users, not ports, to enable follow-me security that is enforced regardless of access method or location. Application continuity services enable follow-me applications that can be seamlessly accessed across WLAN and cellular networks. The cost, convenience, and security benefits of user-centric networks are fundamentally changing how and where we work.
