Atlantic Coast Medical Products, Inc. to Highlight Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment Device at Carilion Clinic

SALEM, VA--(Marketwire - August 26, 2010) -  Atlantic Coast Medical Products, Inc. (ACMP) announced today that the company will be presenting the innovative Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment pain management system from Competitive Technologies, Inc. and Total Pain Solutions product line at this Friday's Carilion Clinic 2010 Pain Conference (http://www.carilionclinic.org/Carilion/Pain+Conference) in Roanoke, Virginia.

The Carilion Clinic Pain Conference is being held Friday, August 27 from 7:30 AM-4:30PM at the Hotel Roanoke and Convention Center.

The Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment medical device technology is a non-invasive medical device indicated for the treatment of high-intensity oncologic and neuropathic pain, including pain resistant to morphine and other drugs. Calmare® utilizes a low electrical current of 5 milliamps emitted to the central nervous system through electrodes placed topically on the patient's skin on either side of the pain area. Through the application of sixteen proprietary electrical impulse algorithms programmed in the medical device unit, the technology targets the body's C-fiber pathway (which transmits slower and chronic pain signals) versus the acute pain pathway. These electrical signals perform virtually as artificial neurons to "re-program" the brain's receipt of the pain message to offer long lasting pain relief instead of "blocking" the pain message. The revolutionary technology offers clinicians with a non-invasive and non-narcotic alternative therapy for chronic pain relief. Unlike painkillers, there is no risk of physical dependence or addiction.

Steven May, President of Atlantic Coast Medical Products, Inc., said, "It is very exciting to participate in the ground floor opportunity to introduce the patented Calmare chronic pain management technology to the medical community in Virginia. With the recent clinical study findings presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) by Dr. Tom Smith from the prestigious Massey Center at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, the interest in evaluating the new technology has increased dramatically." Mr. May continued, "Commonwealth Pain Specialists of Richmond, Virginia has been successfully treating patients with chronic pain with the Calmare™ system since April of this year. We have a comprehensive set of unique pain management tools for physicians to provide to their patients that can potentially positively affect the lives of countless people who suffer from intractable neuropathic chronic pain conditions."
