Audyssey and Sharp Deliver Innovative Features in New AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System

Feature-Laden Surround Sound System Uses Audyssey's Technology to Unleash Rich Bass and Unmatched Audio Clarity

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - June 24, 2010) -  Audyssey® today announced that Sharp Electronics Corporation has incorporated several of its technologies in its Blu-ray Home Theater System, the Sharp BD-MPC41U.

Sharp's new Home Theater in a Box (HTiB) product represents a significant step forward in the quickly expanding market for HTiB products. In the case of the BD-MPD41U, this all-in-one home theater solution includes a sound bar, subwoofer, two surround speakers and an Internet-connected Blu-ray player. The Blu-ray player is part of a 1020-watt amplifier system incorporating several of Audyssey's proprietary technologies to greatly improve the system's audio performance. The system accepts video input from Blu-ray and DVD discs, cable and satellite set-top boxes. In addition, embedded software lets users stream Netflix movies without the need for an external box. The BD-MPD41U plays audio content from a variety of sources, such as CD audio discs, MP3 audio files, FM radio and directly from an iPod with its iPod docking slot.

The BD-MPD41U features Audyssey EQ, Dynamic EQ, Bass XT and Dynamic Volume. Bass lovers will appreciate Audyssey Bass XT, which maximizes the supplied subwoofer for surprisingly deep bass. Audyssey EQ is pre-set, so users simply connect the speakers and enjoy the sound. Audyssey Dynamic EQ maintains the dynamic range and balance of a soundtrack regardless of volume level, so listeners can enjoy great surround sound and bass at low volumes. Audyssey Dynamic Volume eliminates the frustrating volume spikes from commercials and the level swings that occur between network programming. Audyssey's technologies work in harmony to deliver an amazingly immersive surround sound in a compact package, which Sharp delivers to consumers at a great price.
