Australian Federal Government Department Relies on Titus Labs to Protect Sensitive Data

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Uses Classification and Labelling to Meet Regulatory Requirements and Secure Personal Information

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2010) - The Australian Federal Government Department of Human Services, which includes the Child Support Program, is using Titus Labs Message Classification (TMC) Software to secure personal information and comply with the Australian Government e-Protective Marking Standard. DHS has rolled out the Titus Labs offering out to 5,000 employees nationwide, following a rapid deployment over a year ago.

DHS is responsible for administering Australia's Child Support Scheme and handles highly sensitive personal and financial information about the citizens using its services. DHS has invested significant resources to ensure the security of this confidential data. Working with local Titus Labs reseller Dataflex, DHS researched available options and selected Titus Labs Message Classification, based on the strength of the offering and the value it delivers.

"When it came to selecting a solution for email classification, key items for us were the flexibility of the solution, as well as the company providing the technology," said Mitch Levy, Assistant Secretary, ICT Infrastructure Management and Telecommunications. "Titus Labs was able to offer us seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook, which has made this solution exceedingly simple to roll out to our users."

With the use of email classification, DHS is in compliance with federal government requirements, and has confidence that the information travelling between employees across the country is secure. Levy explains, "The very nature of the information handled by our agency is sensitive. With the Titus Labs solution we have confidence that information is being properly classified and protectively marked so that it is staying within our organization when it travels via email."

Administration and training on email classification has been minimal over the past year, and there has very little burden on users or administrators. "The value of the Titus Labs solution is immense. From an IT point of view, I cannot think of another system we've been able to roll out with no burden on user or administrators. This ultimately creates a time, cost and risk saving for everyone," said Andrew Gersbach, Dataflex.
