Award-Winning Vancouver Island Eatery SOBO Moves Uptown

New Location and Expanded Menu Give Local and International Fresh Food Devotees More Sophisticated West Coast Dining Experience

TOFINO, BC--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - Celebrated Tofino restaurant, SOBO, welcomes fresh food lovers to its new location in the stylish Conradi Building in Tofino beginning on October 13. The recipient of numerous local and national culinary awards, SOBO is leveraging the new location's large, well-designed food preparation facilities to expand its unique menu of "sophisticated street food," popular with Tofino residents and a growing number of international visitors.

Housed in a 2-year-old building on centrally located Neil Street in Tofino, SOBO's new location boasts 1500 square feet of kitchen space, a comfortable bar area and ample table seating. Visitors get a feel for true West Coast ambiance with SOBO's outdoor patio, large, outdoor stone fireplace, bistro-inspired lighting, slate floors and a wall of North-facing windows providing views of pristine Clayoquot Sound.

Known for producing simple and delicious food using regionally grown and harvested ingredients, internationally acclaimed Chef Lisa Ahier plans to expand the current SOBO menu to take full advantage of the new location's well-equipped kitchen. "Our fantastic new location lets me create the type of fresh, nutritious cooking in the volumes that I've always wanted to," said Ahier. "SOBO's expansion also allows us to better connect with local growers and harvesters who will now have a dependable order volume from us."

SOBO will continue to offer the "Fresh Food From Here and There" menu that has made the restaurant a destination for gastronomes from around the globe. Popular menu items include an array of made-from-scratch soups, smoked wild fish chowder, sushi rice tofu pockets, fresh oysters prepared in a variety of styles, fresh, handmade pastas, "killer" fish tacos, crispy shrimp cakes, cedar-planked wild Pacific salmon and pan seared halibut in a rich carrot & orange emulsion, house-made desserts, ice creams and sorbets.

Additions to SOBO's fare include healthy pizza combinations prepared in the new location's Woodstone oven, and a variety of interesting breakfast options. Chef Ahier's popular soups, sauces, salad dressings and pickled jalapeños will also be available from the retail section at the new SOBO restaurant.

SOBO is open daily from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM and for dinner until 9:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Dinner reservations are welcomed and recommended. (Dinner service may be extended to additional days beginning in mid-March.)
