BC Technology Industry Association Launches 2010 Business Outreach Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2009) - With the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) has launched its 2010 Business Outreach Program to introduce, promote and connect BC technology companies to the world.

The BCTIA will work with key partners including the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, the Vancouver Economic Development Commission and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to leverage opportunities identified through international business outreach activities and media attention during the games.

"British Columbia is home to amazing technology companies, and for two months next year we have a great opportunity to show them off," stated Pascal Spothelfer, President of the BCTIA. "This allows us to showcase not only our innovation capacity, but also show the world first-hand how our companies are helping to make the 2010 Games the greenest and most technologically-advanced games ever."

The 2010 Business Outreach Program is a multi-faceted industry promotion program focused on connecting BC technology companies to new business opportunities. Specific activities include:

- Business Promotion - Through the distribution of the 2010 Pitch Book, a digital compilation of BC Tech success stories, international business leaders, dignitaries and media will learn of the significant innovation capabilities in British Columbia.

- Business Matching - Targeted B2B services will match international business leaders with BC technology companies to explore new ventures and opportunities.

- Business Outreach Officer - A dedicated Business Outreach Officer will be domiciled at the 2010 Commerce Centre during the month of February 2010 to coordinate B2B meetings and activities for of BC's technology companies.

During the Games, countless representatives from the international business community and thousands of accredited and non-accredited media will descend upon British Columbia looking for interesting and unique business opportunities and media stories.
