BCLC Announces Largest Yearly Prize in Canadian History

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 31, 2007) - Today, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) announced the launch of Millionaire Life, a new national lottery game that will reward one lucky ticket holder the largest annuity prize in Canadian history: $1 Million every year for 25 years.

"Millionaire Life is different from any other lottery game BCLC has ever offered," said Jim Lightbody, Vice-President, Lottery Gaming. "First, it will only run for the month of February. Second, each ticket will consist of a unique 8-digit number, guaranteeing one ticket holder the top prize and a select number of ticket holders for the other prizes."

Millionaire Life tickets will be available from February 1 until February 28. "As you can see, Millionaire Life, with its history-making prize, is a game like no other," added Lightbody. "For one lucky ticket holder, it could be like a brand new life, every year."

Like a raffle, you can buy one ticket for $5, three for $10 or seven for $20. Other special features include early-bird prize draws. Tickets purchased by February 14 will qualify for one of 14 prizes of $100,000.

Additional prizing includes separate draws for four prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000. Subsidiary prizes will be available for matching the first six, or last two, digits of the top-prize winning number drawn.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation is a Crown Corporation reporting to the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General through a Board of Directors. Its mission is to provide high-quality gaming entertainment in a socially responsible manner for the benefit of all British Columbians.
