BCS National Championship Bowl, Michael Bublé Debut High on TicketNews' Event Rankings for December

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - January 6, 2010) - In a month dominated by blockbuster events and seasonal favorites, ticket sales propelled just two new events into the Top Ten on TicketNews' exclusive event rankings, compiled from December 1 through December 31.

Jazz vocalist Michael Bublé had the highest debut of all new December events, entering the rankings in fourth place. Initial ticket sales for the singer-songwriter's recently announced spring 2010 tour helped carry Bublé through the month, with a second place peak in the rankings during the week ending December 13. The artist's Crazy Love tour begins its 20-date U.S. leg on March 10 at Amway Arena in Orlando, FL.

The college bowl season also made its mark on the December rankings as the upcoming BCS National Championship Game bowled its way into the Top 10. That game will close the college football season on January 7 as the No. 2 BCS-ranked Texas Longhorns take on the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide for the title of National Champion.

Familiar names filled the remaining positions in the December rankings. The national tour and on-going Broadway production of "Wicked" cemented the musical's lead spot, while theater's ever-popular "Jersey Boys" followed close behind in third position. Meanwhile, country's rising star Taylor Swift remained the queen of concert events with her second place finish for the month.

December Rankings Highlights

-- After a banner year, Lady Gaga ended 2009 on a high note with a
number six peak on the rankings as ticket sales continue for her
       latest U.S. headlining tour.
-- Ticket sales for last month's second place event, the Radio City
Christmas Spectacular, were down only slightly for a fifth place
finish at the end of the 2009 holiday season.
-- U2 fell to the bottom of the top event rankings, down from its
       fourth-place peak in November.
