BNSF Foundation Makes $200,000 Contribution to the City of Grants for the Development of a New Community Library

FORT WORTH, TX--(Marketwire - November 7, 2007) - The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation (BNSF) presented the City of Grants, New Mexico, with a $200,000 contribution today that will be used toward the development of the city's Community Public Library/Learning Center.

The contribution, which will be allocated equally over a three-year period, represents the largest single contribution the Foundation has made to an organization in New Mexico.

"We are pleased to assist the City of Grants and Cibola County in their efforts to significantly improve and upgrade the public library, which serves the county as well as two Native-American tribal communities," said BNSF's Nate Murray, general manager, Southwest Division.

"It is our belief that the new Community Public Library/Learning Center will provide educational access, enhance adult basic education, and increase student retention," said Murray."

The city's current library is located in a 2,000-square-foot facility and serves 25,000 Cibola County residents. The new facility will be nearly three times the size of the current library and will include a state-of-the-art learning center.

"BNSF's contribution will go a long way to ensuring the future of our community," said David Ulibarri, Cibola County Manager and newly appointed State Senator, Cibola County. "Our focus will be on improving educational opportunities for the entire county."
