The Big Get Bigger: Babcock & Wilcox Expands Environmental Services Business, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - April 1, 2010) -  Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- In two announcements last month, Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group took steps to broaden and expand the company's electric power environmental remediation business. On March 15, Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (Lynchburg, Virginia), a subsidiary of McDermott International (NYSE:MDR) (Houston, Texas), announced it would purchase GE Energy's electrostatic precipitator and emissions-monitoring business units. A week earlier, the same B&W unit formed a strategic alliance with Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) (Irving, Texas) to market and sell carbon dioxide capture systems for existing coal-fired power plants in the United States and Canada.
