Big Rock Brewery Outperforms Industry

Big Rock Brewery Income Trust announces quarterly results

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 4, 2009) - Big Rock Brewery Income Trust (TSX:BR.UN) ("Big Rock" or the "Trust") today announced its results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2009. These results reflect the consolidated operations of the Trust and Big Rock Brewery Operations Corporation.

Commenting on the results, Ed McNally, President and CEO, said, "We continue to see the results of our commitment to be a premium craft brewer - and the success of our high quality products." In 2007, Big Rock reaffirmed its commitment to return to its roots as a craft brewer through strong ties to the land and ongoing community presence.

Big Rock's consolidated net earnings for the three months ended September 30, 2009, increased to $3,076,018 from $1,417,385 for the same three months period in 2008. Year-to-date net earnings totaled $6,860,563, up from $3,422,543 for the same period last year. Continued McNally, "A strong sales team and a focus on cost control have combined to provide solid results to our unitholders". Net earnings for the three and nine month periods increased by 117% and 100%, respectively, and reflect the success of these strategic initiatives.

The third quarter encompassed the majority of the summer season, which is historically a strong sales period. Cooler than average summer weather has contributed to the beer industry's 2.7% decline in sales for the first eight months of 2009. However, despite the cooler weather in July and August of 2009, Big Rock made significant advances with our core brands and successfully introduced a new product. Alberta and British Columbia led the increase, contributing 20,329 hectolitres (hl) of the 33,958 hl total year-to-date growth, and confirming Big Rock's strong community presence.
