BioShaft Water Technology Inc. Appoints Thomas Houston to Its Advisory Board

CARLSBAD, CA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2008) - BioShaft Water Technology Inc. (OTCBB: BSHF) (the "Company" or "BioShaft") is pleased to announce that Thomas Houston has been appointed to the Company's board of advisors.

Mr. Houston is the Managing Director of Global Eco-Rescue Limited, which is engaged in the business of saving rainforests around the world and trading the resulting carbon credits. Prior to this Mr. Houston was the President of Hydrophix Inc., which developed and marketed products to eliminate bacteria and hydrocarbons from storm drains. For more than 20 years Mr. Houston was an environmental attorney and "registered lobbyist," and he secured over $2 Billion in municipal government contracts for his clients.

From 1984-1987 Mr. Houston served as Deputy Mayor & Chief of Staff of the City of Los Angeles. He oversaw the City's Bureau of Sanitation and its four major sewage treatment plants. From 1975-80 he was a cabinet officer for Governor Jerry Brown in California, where he was responsible for enacting many of the state's environmental laws and regulations including those dealing with waste water management.

Mr. Houston is the former President of the Los Angeles Environmental Quality Board and was the founding President & CEO of the non-profit International SeaKeepers Society. Mr. Houston currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the non-profit Waterkeeper Alliance, which protects lakes and rivers from industrial, agricultural and municipal sewage pollution. Mr. Houston is an honours graduate of Stanford Law School and Princeton University.
