BioteQ Receives 2009 Canada Export Achievement Award for Pacific Region

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 2, 2009) - BioteQ Environmental Technologies Inc. (TSX:BQE), a leader in the treatment of industrial waste water, has received the 2009 Canada Export Achievement Award for the Pacific Region. Presented by Export Development Canada and PROFIT Magazine, the Canada Export Achievement Awards celebrate the spirit and strategies of Canadian small and mid-sized enterprises that are succeeding in foreign markets. Complete profiles of the 2009 winners are published in the December 2009-January 2010 issue of PROFIT Magazine and online at www.exportawards.ca and www.prixexport.ca.

BioteQ is a Vancouver-based water treatment company that is active in Canada, the US, Mexico, Australia, Chile, and China. The company treats wastewater contaminated with dissolved heavy metals and sulphate, producing saleable by-products that can be recycled and clean water that can be discharged safely to the environment. By converting wastewater into a useful resource, BioteQ helps its customers to reduce environmental liabilities and save money from lower life cycle costs for water treatment. BioteQ works with leading companies and regulatory agencies in the resource and power generation industries.

"This year's Canada Export Achievement Award winners are exactly the type of role models the program was created to recognize," said Ian Portsmouth, Editor of PROFIT Magazine. "They illustrate how a little innovation combined with a focus on foreign sales can seize the huge opportunity that lies beyond our borders."

"EDC is proud to be involved in this new award that highlights the importance of international trade and investment to Canada's current and future prosperity," said Eric Siegel, President and CEO of EDC. "Recognizing and promoting innovation and leadership among Canadian exporters will not only benefit the winners, but will also help nurture a trade culture among all Canadian companies."

In addition to receiving the 2009 Canada Export Achievement Award for the Pacific Region, BioteQ has been named one of Canada's Top 50 Most Socially Responsible Corporations by Jantzi Research and Maclean's, and the company's sustainable water treatment solutions have been recognized with the Globe Award for Environmental Excellence, the PDAC Award for Environmental and Social Responsibility, the China Mining Environmental Protection Award, and the Mines & Money Sustainable Development Award.
