Bishop Announces June 2006 Work Program to Commence on Lawyers Property

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 23, 2006) - Bishop Gold Inc. ("Bishop"), (TSX VENTURE:BSG) listed on the TSX Venture Exchange Inc. (the "Exchange") under the trading symbol "BSG", is pleased to announce details about the forthcoming work program on the Lawyers Gold Project to commence in June 2006. The Lawyers Gold Project is located in the Toodoggone region of northern B.C., approximately 26 kilometres by road north of the Kemess Cu-Au porphyry mine of Northgate Minerals Corp.

The October 2005 drilling program consisted of 5 holes for a total of 845 metres. The program was hampered by late fall weather which forced the termination of the last hole 05-CC-05 in a strongly mineralized quartz breccia. Strong gold-silver mineralization was intersected on sections 550 North and 650 North in the upper portions of holes 05-CC-03 and 05-CC-05 on between 50-80 metres. The mineralization is open on strike to the north and has not been drill tested in the upper 200-250 metres from surface.

The October 2005 drilling on the Southern Cliff Creek Gold Zone outlined the southern end of a large quartz breccia zone from 65-80 metres in width open on strike to the north containing gold values ranging from 0.1 to 3.0 g/t gold. Within the quartz breccia zone in holes 05-CC-03 and 05-CC-05 a high grade gold zone 2-3 metres in width was intersected at a shallow depth of 50-60 metres. These strong gold zones grade from 6.69 g/t to 12.34 g/t gold and 37.93 g/t to 71.9 g/t silver. This high grade zone is within a larger lower grade zone from 2-24 metres in width grading from 0.343 to 0.942 g/t gold and 5.025 to 13.38 g/t silver.

The high grade gold zone intersected in holes 05-CC-03 and 05-CC-05 strikes at 340 degrees azimuth (northwest) and dips at 60 degrees to the southwest; the true width of the intersections is estimated at 85-90% of the drill intercept. This high grade zone, which has not been tested by previous drilling, is open to the north along the eastern margin of the Cliff Creek Gold Zone with a potential strike of 800-1200 metres. The zone is marked on surface by a 40 metre topographical break in slope with abundant quartz vein and breccia float trending at 340 degrees azimuth (northwest).

For the June 2006 drilling program, Bishop plans to re-drill hole 05-CC-05 and drill four additional holes to the northwest at 100 metre centers to a depth of approximately 120 metres each. These drill targets are designed to test the mineralization intersected in holes 05-CC-03 and 05-CC-05. Previous drill hole data suggests a steepening of the target zone to the North, of section 900 North reflected by thinner intersections of the mineralized horizon.

The following locations are proposed for the next five drill holes:

Hole # (feet) Azimuth E N
06-CC-06 350 075/50 608008 6354896
06-CC-07 350 076/50 607960 6354981
06-CC-08 350 075/45 607895 6355074
06-CC-09 350 075/45 607839 6355165
06-CC-10 350 078/30 607765 6355262

The Lawyers Gold Project is a low sulphidation gold-silver vein system which hosts four mineralized trends with a combined strike length of over 11 kilometres. A small portion was mined by Cheni Gold Mines Ltd. in the period 1989-1992 with recorded production of 173,678 oz gold and 3,638,954 million oz silver. Cheni drill programs during 1987-1990, outlined a gold vein system in the Cliff Creek zone over a strike length of 1,500 metres with widths up to 58 metres. The area mined was a small section of the northern zone, with no follow up on the main broad vein discovery on the southern portion of the Cliff Creek zone.
