Bison Gold Resources Inc. Updates Exploration Activities at Its Central Manitoba & Apex Properties

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 18, 2010) - Bison Gold Resources Inc. ("Bison Gold" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:BGE) is pleased to provide an update on recent exploration activities on its 100% owned Central Manitoba gold property, in the Bissett-Rice Lake district, and 100% owned Apex gold property, in the Snow Lake area of Manitoba.

Drilling was conducted through the fall of 2009 on the Central Manitoba property, which was the subject of previous drill programs in 2006 and 2007/2008. Results from a total of nine holes are tabulated below (all intersections are core widths). Additional results will be released as they become available. Drill holes CM-09-1 through CM-09-6 were targeted along strike and up/down-dip from 2008 drill hole CM-08-4, which returned high grade gold values from the Tene East zone. Holes CM-09-07 and CM-09-8 were drilled down-dip on the Roger East zone which was intersected near the top of hole CM-09-4. Drill hole CM-09-13 was completed on the Wentworth vein, directly under 2006 drill holes CM-06-1, CM-06-2 and CM-06-3. Mineralized veins on the Central Manitoba zone tend to be shallow southeast-plunging.

Drill Hole # Core Interval (m) Core Width (m) Au(g/t) Zone
CM-09-1 178.14 – 178.47 0.33 3.8 Tene East
CM-09-2 171.05 – 172.45 0.40 2.4 Tene East
CM-09-3 183.24 – 183.84 0.60 2.7 Tene East
CM-09-4 30.30 – 32.82 2.52 4.8 Roger East
  including 30.92 – 31.29 0.37 30.7 Roger East
CM-09-5 184.20 – 184.55 0.35 1.8 Tene East
CM-09-6     less than 1.0 Tene East
CM-09-7     less than 1.0 Roger East
CM-09-8 88.95 – 89.60 0.65 1.4 Roger East
CM-09-13 66.66 – 72.15 5.49  10.4 Wentworth
  including 67.85 – 69.00 2.15  21.9 Wentworth
  and 104.54 – 105.24 0.70 1.1 Tene West

Drill holes CM-09-1 through CM-09-6 have not located any significant extension along strike or up/down-dip of the high grade gold values returned in hole CM-08-4. However, drill hole CM-09-4 intersected a new zone, referred to as "Roger East", believed to be an extension of the vein mined from the nearby Roger shaft. The Roger East mineralization occurs along a sheared, quartz-veined tuff inclusion near the top of the Central Manitoba gabbro sill. Drill holes CM-09-7 and CM-09-8 were targeted on the Roger East zone, directly down-dip from discovery hole CM-09-4, and while structure and sulphide veining persisted through these holes, gold values dropped off. Future drilling will target the new Roger East zone down-plunge to the southeast.

Drill hole CM-09-13, which returned 10.4g Au/t over 5.49m, was the first of a second tier of holes being drilled on the Wentworth vein, under the shallow holes drilled in 2006 and 2007/2008. CM-09-13 was drilled directly down-dip from hole CM-06-3, which returned only 1.6g Au/t across 4.00m at 50.40 – 54.40. The significant intersection in CM-09-13 is believed to be controlled by a shallow-plunging drag fold or change in orientation of the Wentworth shear.

During October 2009, Bison Gold contracted a detailed airborne magnetic survey over the Apex gold property near Snow Lake. Ground surveys and drilling are anticipated on the Apex property in 2010.

"We are continuing to systematically explore our Manitoba gold properties, and further results can be anticipated from the Hope, Tene Deep, Wentworth, Tene West, Ogama-Rockland and Valley vein targets on the Central Manitoba property," stated Lucas Ewart, CEO of Bison Gold. "We are well-financed to continue active programs in 2010."

The Central Manitoba drilling program is being completed under the supervision of William C. Hood, P. Geo., a Qualified Person under NI 43-101. Drill core was sawed, with half sent to SGS Minerals Services in Red Lake, and the other half retained for reference. Most gold analyses were done using 50g fire assay with AA finish. Total metallics techniques were used on samples with visible gold. SGS maintains a quality control program with standards, blanks and duplicates. Standards and blanks are inserted regularly in the sample stream. W.C. Hood has reviewed this news release.
