Blade.org Webinar Series Highlights Enabling Technologies and Best Practices for Storage Consolidation

PISCATAWAY, NJ--(Marketwire - March 25, 2010) - Blade.org, a collaborative organization and developer community focused on accelerating the development and adoption of blade server solutions, announces a new webinar focusing on storage consolidation that will take place April 1, 2010 at 10am PDT (1pm EDT). This latest in a series of industry-pertinent webinars from the organization focuses on emerging trends, enabling technologies, and best practices affecting today's data center.

Building on network and server consolidation discussions from previous webinars, Blade.org members will discuss benefits, new technologies, and additional considerations when planning for storage consolidation. Whether you are considering a server or network consolidation project today or in the future, the opportunities for improved storage efficiency through increased consolidation are available now.

"We are pleased to see the growth and evolution of the Blade.org webinar series," said Brent Mosbrook, senior product manager for Emulex Corporation and Blade.org solutions committee chair. "The April 1 Storage Consolidation event will offer best practices to data center professionals around the globe that they can apply immediately to their installations."

NetApp, Virtensys, and Emulex will each present and take part in a roundtable question and answer session at the end of the webinar. Topics covered in this webinar include:

-- In an environment where data growth continues to accelerate yet server
form factors continue to shrink, managing storage resources becomes an
increasing challenge. NetApp will review trends in storage
virtualization and present features that deliver increased storage
    efficiency, performance, and productivity.
-- With data centers rapidly adopting server virtualization in the pursuit
of increased utilization, efficiency and manageability, storage
virtualization becomes equally important. Virtensys will describe how
I/O virtualization brings the efficiency of storage virtualization to
the storage infrastructures, including direct-attached storage (DAS)
    and storage area networks (SAN).
-- As the needs of the data center evolve to service organizational
requirements, server virtualization and storage convergence can both
benefit from the increased bandwidth and reduced costs associated with
converged networking. Emulex will provide an update on network
convergence, with an emphasis on storage protocol performance.
