Blast Radius Boosts European Team With Key Hires

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM and AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2010) - Three new hires lead the charge as Blast Radius expands its presence in Europe (EMEA). Chris Mellish was brought on as Managing Director in Europe, Middle East and Asia. Sean Chambers as the region's Executive Creative Director and finally Jeroen Matser as Strategy Director.

EMEA Managing Director Mellish previously worked in London as a managing partner at Razorfish, a leading global interactive agency, where he worked with brands such as Audi and McDonald's. But he was drawn to Blast's unique way of approaching the digital media landscape for clients, including social media such as Facebook, he says. "It was the opportunity to build on the success that Blast has had in North America and to really establish them in Europe."

Today, Mellish splits his time between Blast's offices in London and Amsterdam. "We're growing in every direction possible: We've got new people coming in, new clients, we've got new office space being established. It's just great to watch such excitement and growth happening at such speed," says Mellish.

Sean Chambers, Blast's Executive Creative Director in Europe echoes Mellish's sentiments: "The growth is happening fast – we've more than doubled in just six months and we're attracting fantastic talent."

Chambers previously worked at Tribal DDB in Amsterdam, where his team won a Cannes Grand Prix for an interactive online ad "Philips Carousel". Chambers has also worked at POKE in London, where he worked with British cell phone provider Orange, and founded his own agency, Kong Amsterdam.

Chambers expects Blast's approach to social marketing – the same approach that helped build Starbucks into the most engaged brand on the web with over 5 million Facebook fans – to do well in Europe.

Finally, Jeroen Matser starts work as Blast's European Strategic Director in January 2010. "It's about coordinating a strategic offering across the different countries and ensuring that clients get a pan-European offering," he explains. Matser is moving over from Tribal DDB in London where he worked as a Strategy Director and spent most of his time working with Philips (known as Philips Norelco in North America).

Why the lure to work for Blast Radius in London? "For me what sets Blast apart from many of the other digital players is their strong heritage in e-commerce and business consulting," he says. "The difference between the traditional advertising and marketing industry and an agency like Blast is that you can go much deeper into clients' processes and business and really use technology to transform a business."

"The experience and knowledge that Blast has in house to leverage the power of technology going forward is immense and that's really the exciting bit for me," Matser says.
