BlueArc Titan Network Storage Solution Heats Up Mumbai-Based Redchillies.vfx' Visual Effects Production

Shah Rukh Khan's State-of-the-Art Facility Raises the Bar for Industry in India

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - October 24, 2007) - BlueArc Corporation, a leader in scalable, high-performance unified network storage, today announced that Mumbai-based visual effects studio Redchillies.vfx has installed a BlueArc Titan 2000 network storage system for its new, state-of-the-art post production facility. India has been reported to have the highest cinema attendance in the world and by deploying a Titan, Redchillies.vfx will be better equipped to serve this market by bringing higher production capabilities to its film and television projects and gaining the capacity to pursue international contracts.

"Our new studio is designed for unsurpassed quality and turnaround time, and BlueArc technology offers the fastest performance available," said Keitan Yadav, chief operating officer, Redchillies.vfx. "We believe the Titan is the best product on the market today, so it was a clear choice for the new Redchillies studio."

Redchillies.vfx is a recent venture of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, the most popular superstar of Indian cinema, and already has done visual effects for a string of box-office hits, including "Chakde India," a super hit film of 2007; "Don," a blockbuster action film that was the second-highest grossing picture in India in 2006; "Paheli," India's official entry to the 2006 Academy Awards and "Main Hoon Na," which earned Best Film in the 2005 Global Indian Film Awards. Currently, BlueArc's Titan is used for Redchillies' own production film "Om Shanti Om," to be released in November 2007. "We can already see the difference in our performance," added Mr. Yadav. To continue the company's success, BlueArc's Titan has been deployed as a critical element supporting the production quality, performance and project capabilities that Redchillies will offer at its new facility.

"India's entertainment industry is booming, and more of Hollywood and Europe's studios are scouting for production services here, as well," said Shah Rukh Khan. "The new Redchillies facility brings to life my vision for a studio that can respond to the world's appetite for great entertainment."

Built to accommodate as many as 150 personnel, the new Redchillies facility required a storage system design capable of responding on-demand with seamless access to massive and complex visual content. As the Titan 2000 system can support request volume and file sizes well in excess of present Redchillies projects, Mr. Yadav's plan is to make the Titan the core of the studio's technology infrastructure and centralize workflow, reducing concern that bottlenecks or downtime might interrupt the creative process or delay production. As a result, Redchillies expects to raise the bar for staff productivity and faster project delivery in India's film and television industry.
