Box Named "Cool Vendor" by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors Selected for the "Cool Vendor" Report Are Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2011) - Cloud content management provider Box today announced it has been included in Gartner's 2011 Report, "Cool Vendors in Content Management." Every year, Gartner recognizes new Cool Vendors in key technology areas and publishes a series of research reports highlighting these vendors and their products and services. This year's batch of nearly 300 Cool Vendors feature many technologies that increase interaction and collaboration between end users -- a sign of the shifting trend toward the consumerization of IT.1 The Cool Vendors in Content Management, 20112 Report focused on five vendors that deliver value by improving the connections between people and information in the cloud.

Based in Palo Alto, Box is transforming the way 6 million individuals and 60,000 businesses like Dell, Hawaiian Airlines and USA Today share and manage all their information in the cloud. Box empowers users to securely access and share content from anywhere, with customized applications for the iPad, iPhone and Android devices. The Box Apps Marketplace includes integrations with leading cloud solutions like Salesforce, Google Apps, NetSuite and Jive, making Box content accessible across a wide variety of business applications.

"The enterprise technology landscape is undergoing a massive shift as businesses look to cloud content management solutions to enhance the productivity and mobility of their workers, while maintaining the visibility and security required by IT departments," said Aaron Levie, CEO and co-founder of Box. "We're thrilled that Gartner has recognized Box as a 'Cool Vendor,' and believe this is underscoring the tremendous momentum that we're seeing as a company, as well as the broader shift from on-premise enterprise solutions to cloud alternatives."

Box kicked off 2011 by unveiling an all-new version of its cloud content management solution, bringing enhanced collaboration, real-time capabilities, and a dramatically simplified interface to all users. The company closed a record first quarter this year, achieving more than 3X enterprise revenue growth over Q1 2010, and recently raised $48M in Series D funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Meritech Capital Partners, and Emergence Capital Partners to fuel the next stage of its growth in the enterprise.
