MARLBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - January 14, 2010) - BrainTrack, a widely referenced higher-education resource, today announced the Fall 2009 winners for its BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship (http://www.braintrack.com/colleges-by-career/registered-nurses#scholarship), a biannual scholarship for nursing degree students that is designed to help prospective students. The winners are Katherine Barresi of Napa Valley College in California, who received the $1,000 first-place award, and Zoe Andrade of State University of New York's Downstate Medical Center College, who received a $500 second-place award.

"Through the essay responses of entrants, which we are publishing as student stories, our Nursing Schools Scholarship program offers those considering nursing career paths the perspectives of real student experiences," said David Siegel, Vice President of Operations with BrainTrack's publisher, Futuremeld, LLC. "The winning essays stood out for the creativity and practicality of guidance offered for prospective students."

"BrainTrack's award will undoubtedly bring me much closer to my goal of becoming a registered nurse," said BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship winner Katherine Barresi, who has completed a semester of her studies towards an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) at Napa Valley College. Her winning essay offered a series of questions for future students to ask of the nursing schools that they are considering. She also described the first-hand research she undertook to explore nursing as a career path.

BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship second-place winner Zoe Andrade, who plans to graduate in 2010 from an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, shared in detail how she selected her school and the steps she took to prepare for her first semester. She described experiences that led her to nursing school, including undergraduate studies in performing arts and health issues faced by members of her family.

A summary of useful tips offered by entrants, as well as the winning essay entries, are published in BrainTrack's Nursing Student Stories section (http://www.braintrack.com/college-student-stories/category/nursing-student-stories).
