Brazil Inaugurates World's First Ethanol-Fired Power Plant in Minas Gerais, an Industrial Info News Alert

CORDOBA, ARGENTINA--(Marketwire - February 4, 2010) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Juiz de Fora, the world's first ethanol-fueled power plant, was opened January 19 by Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The 87-megawatt power plant was upgraded to be able to switch between natural gas and sugarcane-based ethanol feedstocks instantaneously. The facility is equipped with two General Electric (NYSE:GE) combustion turbines and Alstom (EPA:ALO) generators.
