BroadSoft Joins SIP Forum Leadership Team

BroadSoft Product Manager Selected to Join SIP Forum Board

GAITHERSBURG, MD--(Marketwire - January 8, 2008) - BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that it has joined industry leaders on the board of directors of the SIP Forum, an organization with members from the leading IP communications companies, whose mission is to advance the adoption of products and services based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). In a recent election among forum members, Mark Enstrom, Product Manager for BroadSoft, was chosen to join the SIP Forum Board. The board provides overall oversight of all of the forum's operations.

"As BroadSoft's representative to the SIP Forum, Mark plays an instrumental role with the SIPconnect Certification Committee and helped launch the SIPconnect Compliance Trademark," said SIP Forum Chairman Eric Burger. "We welcome his continued involvement through his role on our board."

"The SIP Forum is the key organization in the adoption of SIP as the standard in voice communications," Enstrom said. "As a director, I hope to be able to help move the SIP Forum from a highly technical organization to an organization focused on both developing the technology and marketing it to outside stakeholders."

Enstrom brings almost 14 years of experience in the industry, including roles in Systems Engineering, Product Line Management and Product/Field Marketing. In these roles, Mark has been instrumental in many product introductions. As a Product Manager at BroadSoft, he works with service providers in all areas of product definition and marketing of their Business Trunking and SIP trunking solutions. Prior to this role, he led the effort to define and document the SIP trunking solution, which is now BroadSoft's fastest-growing application. Prior to BroadSoft, Mark was with TTC/Acterna (now JDSU) and sentitO Networks (now Verso). Mark holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from the R. H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

BroadSoft recently announced that its BroadWorks Business Trunking, its fastest-growing solutions, achieved SIPconnect™ compliance. This accomplishment helps assure that a SIP trunk delivered by BroadWorks will work with a compliant service provider and IP PBX, without requiring six months of interoperability testing. BroadSoft's involvement in the SIPconnect standardization with the SIP Forum helps service providers continue to deliver leading-edge services demanded by small and medium businesses and large enterprises.

About the SIP Forum

The SIP Forum's mission is to advance the adoption of products and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol. To accomplish this mission, the forum advances product interoperability by holding live interoperability test events, and by defining and creating operational compliance tests. It also creates white papers, implementation guides, recommendations, and other technical documents dealing with issues that fall outside the scope of the IETF or other relevant standards bodies. In addition to these initiatives, the forum builds awareness about what existing and emerging SIP-compliant technologies can do for users and customers. For additional information, go to
