Brompton Top 50 Compound Growth Fund Closes Initial Public Offering at $75 Million

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 16, 2006) - Brompton Top 50 Compound Growth Fund (the "Fund")(TSX:CGF.UN) is pleased to announce that it has completed its initial public offering of 7,500,000 trust units at a price of $10.00 per unit for gross proceeds of $75 million. The Fund's units begin trading today on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CGF.UN.

The Fund is designed to provide unitholders with the benefits of compound investment returns on a tax deferred basis, the potential for additional capital appreciation of the portfolio and the benefits of low management fees. The compound investment returns will be generated by reinvesting the distributions from an equally weighted diversified portfolio of the top 50 income trusts, as measured by current yield, which qualify for inclusion in the S&P/TSX Composite Index, in additional units of those income trusts.
