Brookfield Renewable Power's Golf Tournament Raises $240,000 for the Daniel Briere Foundation

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 19, 2010) - Brookfield Renewable Power yesterday proudly presented a cheque for $240,000 to the Daniel Briere Foundation in connection with Brookfield's 6th annual golf tournament held at Le Chateau Montebello Golf Club in Montebello, Quebec.

Created by the Philadelphia Flyers player and Gatineau native Daniel Briere, the Foundation will receive a majority of the tournament's proceeds which will in turn be donated to the Gatineau Hospital's pediatric clinic for the purchase of specialized equipment. Trait d'Union Outaouais and the Franco-Ontarian Society for Autism will also benefit from the tournament's success, each receiving $30,000.

Brookfield Renewable Power has matched each dollar raised by its golf tournament over the last six years, for total proceeds of more than one million dollars which has gone to support several organizations in the area, including United Way/Centraide, Trait d'Union Outaouais, the Franco-Ontarian Society for Autism, the Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie and Moisson Outaouais.
