Bryant & Stratton College Online Honored as a 2011 Military Friendly School for Its Commitment to Active-Duty Service Members and Military Veterans

Only 15 Percent of Colleges, Universities and Trade Schools Awarded This Distinction From G.I. Jobs Magazine

BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwire - August 23, 2010) -  Bryant & Stratton College Online announced today that it received the high-honor of being named a 2011 Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine. Only 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools are awarded this distinction. G.I. Jobs compiled the list so service members and military veterans can easily find schools that understand the needs of students with military experience. Schools on the list range from state universities and private colleges to community colleges and trade schools. An Academic Advisory Board made of educators from institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Old Dominion University and Colorado State University helped create the methodology and criteria for selecting the military friendly schools.

"It is a tremendous honor for Bryant & Stratton College Online to be recognized as a 2011 Military Friendly School," said Scott Traylor, Associate Campus Director for Online Education at Bryant & Stratton College. "Members of the armed services, their spouses and military veterans have unique circumstances and we continually strive to serve them in a way that best fits their needs and lifestyle. It's a great privilege to be recognized for these efforts, which we feel is the least we can do to give back to the men and women who do so much for our country."

G.I. Jobs Magazine selected schools for the Military Friendly Schools list by analyzing opportunities for military students, class flexibility and the overall student experience. Bryant & Stratton College Online made the list because of its innovative military programs and staff including:

-- Salute to Spouses
Salute to Spouses (www.salutetospouses.com) is a scholarship program that allows military spouses to receive up to $6,000 toward an online degree program at Bryant & Stratton College. Bryant & Stratton College Online created the Salute to Spouses program to help fill the void left by the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program. For military spouses pursuing an associate's degree, the scholarship can be combined with MyCAA benefits, or the scholarship can be applied toward an online bachelor's degree program at Bryant & Stratton College. Additionally, eligibility is not limited by pay grade. To apply for this scholarship, military spouses can visit www.salutetospouses.com.

-- Military Coordinator
Showcasing Bryant & Stratton College Online's commitment to service members, their spouses and veterans, the college recently hired MAJ (Ret.) Ed Dennis to serve as its military relations manager. Ed's primary role is to provide assistance to service members seeking information about higher education and to work with branches of the military to help students understand the opportunities that are available to them through Bryant & Stratton College Online. Ed started at Bryant & Stratton in July 2010 after recently retiring from the Army with 21 years of service. His extensive knowledge and first-hand experience with the armed forces brings invaluable expertise to Bryant & Stratton about what active-duty and veteran military students need.

"While I recently retired from the Army, I'm thrilled to still be able to support the military by working with an institution that sincerely wants to see service members, their spouses and veterans have access to the education and resources they need to succeed now and in the future," said Ed Dennis, Military Relations Manager at Bryant & Stratton College Online. "Bryant & Stratton College recognizes the unique needs of military students and their families and it's great to see that G.I. Jobs has taken notice by selecting them to be a part of this elite list."
