CAA North & East Ontario’s Road Trip Tips

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 9, 2010) - For many families in Ontario, Spring Break is a time to escape the winter blues and hit the open road. To help you get the most from your March Break, CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) has some helpful tips for a relaxing and stress-free trip with your friends and family.

- Before you go, have your car tuned up at a CAA Approved Auto Repair Service (AARS) centre. It's also a good idea to give both the interior and exterior of your vehicle a thorough cleaning to remove all the salt, sand and dirt that may have accumulated over the winter months.

- Be prepared! Make sure to plan your route in advance, and always travel with a fully charged cell phone.

- Remember; road time is family time, and you'll be in close quarters for the length of your trip. In order to keep everyone busy and content, try bringing a range of games and activities catered to everyone's interest, like word puzzles or a family friendly movie.

- Active kids can be a challenge in the car. Frequent stops and seat switching will turn their attention to something new and different until the next stop, while also preventing driver fatigue and distraction.

-  If you're staying in the country, you won't need your passport, but make sure all of your passengers are travelling with photo id in case of emergency. Remember if you're driving through the United States, all of your passengers will need a valid passport.
