CBS 3 Dedicates Full Day of On-Air Fundraising to Alex's Lemonade Stand on Thursday, June 7

CBS Anchor Tracy Smith of "The Saturday Early Show" Joins Effort

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - June 4, 2007) - CBS 3 will take the unusual step of breaking format on Thursday, June 7th to present a full day of fundraising for Alex's Lemonade Stand live from the Great Hall in the station's new HD Broadcast Center.

"The Alex Scott Phone Bank" will air in special segments from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the broadcast day. Pledges can be made by credit card or check by calling 1-877-KYW-3ASK (1-877-599-3275).

The station is making the time available in newscasts, in commercial break time and by pre-empting regularly-scheduled programming from 9 to 9:30 a.m. ("Entertainment Tonight"), 3 to 3:30 p.m. ("Inside Edition") and 7 to 8 p.m. ("Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider"). CBS 3's Larry Mendte will spearhead the 14-hour effort to raise funds for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a unique charity that evolved from the front yard lemonade stand of four-year-old Alex Scott, which, since her passing in 2004, has blossomed into a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer.

Tracy Smith, a longtime supporter of Alex's Lemonade Stand and co-anchor of CBS News' "The Saturday Early Show," will join Mendte for the phone bank, as will Alex's parents, Jay and Liz Scott. A host of CBS 3 anchors and reporters, including Alycia Lane, Angela Russell and Susan Barnett, will also be on hand to interview those participating in the event. In addition, volunteers from local companies, including the Flyers, the Sixers, the Phillies and CBS 3's own sister stations, The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV), KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, 94 Free FM WYSP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and The Big Talker 1210AM WPHT will staff the phone bank.

The Alex Scott Phone Bank makes its debut just in time for Lemonade Days 2007 (June 8-10) when thousands of people across the country will take a stand against pediatric cancer by hosting lemonade stands of their own. In conjunction with CBS 3's fundraising efforts, Meteorologist Kathy Orr will host a CBS 3 lemonade stand in Ocean City, New Jersey on June 7th as part of her "Orr At The Shore" series.

"The CBS 3 family is proud to embrace this important cause with an unprecedented commitment of airtime," says CBS 3 President and General Manager Michael Colleran. "Alex's dedication to her mission was our inspiration to go the extra mile and we're honored to do so."

"The phone bank is a great kickoff to our annual Lemonade Days. Not only is CBS 3 raising money, but they are sharing Alex's life and legacy in a way that will highlight the importance of childhood cancer research and the impact that donations can make for children with cancer," Liz Scott, Alex's mother, adds.

CBS 3 will be retelling the story of Alex Scott's brief but remarkable life in excerpts from the station's award-winning documentary, "Alex Scott: A Stand For Hope." The program, which first aired last June, has been accepted and shown at 21 film festivals since then and has won numerous broadcasting awards including a national Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and a Best Documentary Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. The special will be rebroadcast in its entirety on Sunday, June 10 at 11 a.m. on CBS 3 and at 12 noon on The CW Philly 57.

CBS 3 acknowledges the support of Toyota and Applebee's in making this special fundraising effort possible. CBS 3 (KYW-TV) is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
