CEOs Are Setting New Financial Benchmarks on Furniture Purchases

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - January 20, 2010) - Companies showing growth in 2009 are pioneering new financial benchmarks on how they furnish their offices. CEOs are waking up to new groundbreaking price points on cubicle systems, such as the $1,000 8' x 8' Segment Workstations, and leveraging the savings to finance growth. Companies that had once standardized on brand name $2,000 to $4,000 per cubicle systems, such as Herman Miller and Steelcase, are choosing comparable quality with "new economy" vendors offering products at a new level of value.

Some of the new price points for the new generation of cubicle workstations are:

-- $1,000 per full-size 8' x 8' managerial workstations

-- $750 per mid-size 6' x 8' managerial workstations, and

-- $275 per 4' x 2' call center cubicles

Segment Workstations, for example, have been selling at those price points in late 2009 with nationwide delivery costs included. Upgrades, such as multiple segmented tile and belt-line electrical options, are also priced at value that companies are easily justifying upgrades beyond the basic all-fabric tile configuration.

A local San Jose technology firm acquired 295 full size 8' x 10' Segment Workstations in 2009. Workstations included glass tiles, marker boards, and Bamboo peninsula desks for guest seating. They found that while Segment may have 95% of the features of brand-name $3,000 cubicle systems, Segment is meeting 95% of their needs at nearly 60% savings.

Companies are updating their Approved Vendor Lists to reflect new budget priorities and including vendors such as Segment Workstations. They are seeking more immediate productivity value over past requirements such as extended lifetime warranties and limitless customization options.
