CFIA/Media Advisory: Minister Strahl Announces 'Be Aware and Declare' Campaign

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 16, 2006) -



What: Preventing disease outbreaks in animals (such as avian
influenza) and plants is key to protecting our food supply.
The Government of Canada is launching the "Be Aware and
Declare" Travellers' Campaign to inform travellers how to do
their part to keep Canada safe from viruses and destructive
species.

Who: The Honourable Chuck Strahl and officials from the Canadian
Food Inspection Agency, Canada Border Services Agency and VIPs
from the airline industry will attend the event.

Where: Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport
