CGOC Announces Dallas Luncheon Meeting on Reducing eDiscovery Costs While Improving Process Integrity

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2010) -  CGOC, a practitioners' forum convening legal, IT and RIM professionals to share current and best practices in discovery, information governance, privacy and data management, today announced its luncheon meeting: "Reducing E-Discovery Costs while Improving Process Integrity." Hosted by Tenet Healthcare and co-sponsored by PSS Systems, IBM, and LECG, the meeting will help corporate attorneys and discovery leaders develop strategies for addressing escalating ediscovery requirements and costs that plague the legal and IT departments today.

Corporate leaders Liz Schimmel from Halliburton and Tina Gibson of Devon Energy will share their practical experience in automating and auditing their eDiscovery practices to improve process defensibility. Amir Alavi from Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Anaipakos P.C. will provide strategies counsel can use to lower costs and Deidre Paknad, CGOC founder, will focus on correcting the root causes of high cost to break the cycle. The meeting will also include interaction and peer discussion over lunch.

Discussion of enterprise legal hold risk and cost reduction strategies will include how to:

  • Reduce legal hold mis-steps in light of Judge Rosenthal's Rimkus decision and Judge Scheindlin's Pension decision, which set new thresholds for monitoring holds and collections
  • Get every efficiency possible in preservation and discovery to scale strained staff yet ensure a rigorous process
  • Apply case and discovery strategies that lower litigation costs
  • Identify and address the root causes of high ediscovery costs

This meeting is open at no charge to all CGOC members. For more information about obtaining a free CGOC membership, visit www.cgoc.com.
