CMA President Will Host a Media Teleconference Briefing on Wednesday to Release CMA's Discussion Paper: It's About Access!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 5, 2006) - The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) President, Dr. Ruth Collins-Nakai, will release a report detailing the current realities of the interaction between public and private financing of health care in Canada, on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 via teleconference.

The discussion paper titled: It's about access! was prepared by the CMA Task Force on the Public-Private Interface with input from about 3,000 physicians. The paper was developed in response to a resolution at the CMA's annual meeting last August and explores four scenarios, providing a comprehensive analysis of how each one affects patients. A public opinion poll on Canadians' attitudes regarding the scenarios will also be released.
