CME: Christie Digital Systems Canada, Inc. Takes Top Honours at Canadian Innovation Awards

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters honour six outstanding Canadian innovators

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 17, 2008) - Leading-edge technology and innovative leadership has earned Kitchener's Christie Digital Systems Canada, Inc. the title of Canadian Manufacturer of the Year.

The Ontario-based company is a global leader in projection systems and the first to market some of the world's most advanced projectors. Christie Digital's innovative LEAN best practices, workforce development program as well as its unique business strategies resulted in the next-generation manufacturer being awarded Canada's Manufacturer of the Year at Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters' annual Canadian Innovation Awards at the International Convention Centre yesterday.

Former Minister of Industry, Finance, Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister John Manley emceed the afternoon event.

CME presented a total of six awards during its annual Innovation Awards luncheon. Winners are as follows:

JAY-LOR® Fabricating Inc., Orton, ON - BDC's Canadian Innovation Award SME Innovator of the Year

PyroPhotonics Lasers Inc., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC - NRC/IRAP's Canadian Innovation Award for New Technology

IBM Canada, Ltd., Markham, ON - Business Takes Action's Canadian Innovation Award for Innovator of the Year
