CME: Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire Speaks at International Development Days May 20-22, 2008

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) - Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire, author of the best-selling book Shake Hands with the Devil, an account of his experience as Force Commander of the UN Assistance Mission to Rwanda, will be a keynote speaker at the annual International Development Days (IDD) Conference to be held here May 20-22, 2008.

Now entering its 13th year IDD is the largest annual international development event held in Canada. This year it will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver.

IDD is organized by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and highlights the policy framework and opportunities for Canadian companies and organizations working in developing countries and emerging markets.

Theme of this year's conference is "Competing and Succeeding in the Global Marketplace" and will provide a venue for Canadian companies and organizations to meet foreign buyers, investors and decision-makers from developing countries as well as assisting them to identify potential project and/or joint venture partners.

Confirmed and invited keynote speakers include: The Hon. Bev Oda, Minister of International Cooperation; H.E. Omar Samad, Afghanistan Ambassador to Canada; Philip Armstrong, Head, Global Corporate Governance Forum, International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group; Robert Greenhill, President, CIDA; and, Jayson Myers; President, CME.

Other speakers include senior representatives from CIDA, Africa Development Bank, Asia Development Bank, World Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, InterAmerican Development Bank, and major multinational companies from Canada, the United States and Bangladesh.

International delegations from Bangladesh, Caribbean and Latin America, Philippines, and Tunisia will also be featured and will be available for one-on-one meetings with conference delegates.
