CP and CHART Communications Announce Distribution Alliance

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Media Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 19, 2005) - The Canadian Press (CP), Canada's national news agency, and CHART Communications have announced plans for CP to distribute CHART's music news and reviews to media companies across Canada.

CHART Communications has led the way in music industry reporting for 15 years and publishes CHART Magazine and the popular website CHART's focus is youth music and culture with a strong Canadian mandate.

As Canada's national news agency, CP delivers news, information, audio and video to media companies across the country and is constantly looking to offer more high-value content for its clients. The Chart news feed CP will distribute consists of approximately 10 music industry and artist news stories per day as well as approximately 20 artist reviews per week.

Through its national news distribution networks, CP will offer the CHART feed to newspapers, websites, radio stations and any other media company looking to attract and inform music fans, and in particular younger music fans.

CHART'S focus is not on established acts but on emerging artists. CHART was the first to write about some of the industry's current stars including Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies, Our Lady Peace, Sum 41, Matthew Good and many more.

"Music is more accessible than ever before," said CP's Director of Business Development Dwayne Desaulniers. "CHART alerts music fans to the best new artists and offers great reviews on scores of new releases. We believe CHART will be a very strong and edgy editorial component for newspapers, websites and on-air staff at radio stations across Canada. It should be a real draw for music fans, especially younger fans."

"This partnership is an exciting step for us and confirms our position as the leading Canadian source for youth music and culture information," said Nada Laskovski, Vice-President, CHART Communications. "With this CP alliance we look forward to exploring forms of delivery that will further enhance our service in the future. We plan on being be at the forefront of music reporting using the newest and most advanced technologies available."
