CUPE: Reminder and Location Change-Reality Check on Toronto Budget From Respected Economist

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 18, 2010) - TCEU Local 416, CUPE, invites Toronto city councillors and city hall media to the release of a new paper by respected economist Hugh Mackenzie at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19 in the Committee Room 2, Toronto City Hall. It's a reality check against current "explanations" of and "solutions" for Toronto's budget crunch.

Hugh Mackenzie is a Research Associate of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and of the Centre for Urban Studies at the University of Toronto. He will be joined by Local 416 President Mark Ferguson to present a fresh perspective on how the city got to the situation it's in today, how it compares to other municipalities in Ontario and where we should be looking for answers that will keep Canada's largest city vibrant, diverse and progressive.
