Cadec Global Appoints New Chief Architect

Fleet Management Provider Promotes Industry Veteran Heimir Sverrisson to New Post

MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwire - October 29, 2007) - Cadec Global, a leading provider of advanced fleet management solutions, announced today that it has promoted technology veteran Heimir Sverrisson to the newly created post of Chief Architect, responsible for driving product strategy and direction for Cadec's well regarded fleet management platform. Sverrisson was formerly Vice President, Technology at Cadec.

Sverrisson's promotion occurred on the heels of Cadec's highly successful launch of PowerVue, the trucking industry's first Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based, hosted fleet management solution. PowerVue enables fleet managers to translate vast amounts of fleet data collected from each vehicle into actionable information that can be leveraged throughout the supply chain. Sverrisson played a key role in the development and delivery of PowerVue, and also led the drive to move Cadec's solution set to the SOA platform -- an innovative approach that provides substantial benefits to customers and raises the bar on fleet management software.

"Heimir has had a tremendous impact on Cadec's growth and success in the last year as he took on an active role in driving product direction," said Michael Baney, CEO of Cadec. "As Chief Architect, he will have greater reign over long-term product strategy, and will also work closely with Cadec's customers to ensure that our roadmap continues to meet their needs in the future. We're very fortunate to have Heimir as part of our senior management team."

Sverrisson joined Cadec in 2006 from Reykjavik University (RU), where he was an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and active in research in Distributed Computer Systems, Communications and Operating Systems. Prior to RU, Sverrisson served for seven years as CTO of Oracle distributor Teymi Inc., where he built the support and services organizations and technical infrastructure, and provided consulting for a wide variety of customers including banks and the largest telecommunications companies in Iceland and Denmark. A founder of Teymi, Sverrisson helped grow the organization to more than 80 employees. Before joining Teymi, Sverrisson owned a small software company specializing in complex, real-time communications systems and databases. Sverrisson, who holds several technology patents and is a frequent speaker at technology industry conferences, has a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Iceland and M.Sc. in EE from the Technical University of Denmark.

A recognized thought leader in the fleet management space, Sverrisson recently launched a blog on the topic (Automating Fleet Management, at, covering issues such as regulatory compliance, driver productivity and technologies to watch. "This is a very exciting time to be at Cadec," said Sverrisson. "The company has experienced a real resurgence in the past year, with a very strong technology direction and record levels of enthusiasm both internally and from our customers. I'm looking forward to taking on this new challenge, and continuing to work with this great team."
