Cadec Global Launches PowerVue, the First SOA-Based, Hosted Fleet Management Solution

Unique Architecture Enables Customers to Easily Integrate Fleet Management With Other Supply Chain Components

MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwire - October 8, 2007) - Cadec Global, a leading provider of fleet management systems, today launched PowerVue, the trucking industry's first Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based, hosted fleet management solution. Designed to enable companies to maximize the business value of their fleets, Cadec's PowerVue helps fleet managers address challenges such as:

-- Improving efficiency and reducing costs by integrating actionable
    fleet information with existing routing, mapping and supply chain
    management software;
-- Creating dashboards of relevant information for each stakeholder in
    the supply chain -- from dispatcher, to fleet manager, to CEO, to customer;
-- Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations by automating
    paper-based administrative processes such as DOT logs and fuel tax;
-- Visibility into driver safety data including speed, route/location,
    and idle time; and
-- Meeting and exceeding customer service expectations.

Unlike traditional mobile communications systems that primarily emphasize messaging and location, or OBC systems that focus on collecting data, PowerVue adds a level of intelligence by combining the most advanced on-board computer system with a web-based, enterprise-class data management application. This enables PowerVue to translate vast amounts of fleet data collected from each vehicle into actionable information that can be leveraged throughout the supply chain.

While simple, browser-based tools are limited to providing access over the web, PowerVue's use of web-services technology combined with its dynamic web interface provides new levels of end-user customization to adjust to the way each person needs to see their data, as well as easy integration to systems throughout the supply chain. Users can easily create role-based dashboards to present data to different types of stakeholders within the organization and even create customer service portals for their clients to view real-time information on when to expect their deliveries, including a map that tracks truck locations.

Turning fleet data into actionable information

PowerVue is comprised of several components:

--  PowerVue Office: A web-based, enterprise-class fleet management
    application platform that provides a real-time interface and central
    repository for all mobile asset data. Leveraging an SOA design, PowerVue is
    based on technologies from Oracle, Microsoft, HP and EMC, and is hosted at
    a Tier 1, SAS70-compliant facility for maximum security, scalability and
    reliability.

-- PowerVue Advanced Applications: Designed to extend and enhance the
    functionality of PowerVue based on specific industry/business requirements,
    these add-on applications include temperature tracking, door tracking,
    power take-off tracking and trailer validation.

-- PowerVue Bridge: The industry's first web-services integration
    framework, providing unlimited application integration capability based on
    industry-standard, XML-based technology. With PowerVue Bridge, fleet data
    can be easily tied to other systems in a company's supply chain -- for
    example, dispatch, routing, fuel tax, DOT compliance and supply chain
    management applications.

-- PowerVue On-board Computer: The PowerVue OBC, designed with drivers in
    mind, is a new two-piece design running Microsoft Windows CE 5.x. with a
    separate, 7-inch, color touch-screen driver interface. This combination
    enables it to collect driver, vehicle, route and delivery information in
    real time and wirelessly transmit data to a central datacenter.

Beta customers report seamless integration, solid performance

Several of Cadec's customers including COI Foodservice have been using a beta test version of PowerVue since August. "Cadec's PowerVue is unlike any other fleet management software I've used," said Len Kennedy, Senior Director of Fleet Operations at COI Foodservice. "Cadec's new web services-based architecture will provide tremendous efficiencies by enabling us to easily integrate fleet management with our other systems, so that we can fully automate many of our delivery processes. Tying all of this together with PowerVue will give us unprecedented visibility into our business."

Experts believe that technologies such as SOA can help businesses become more agile while strengthening their supply chain.

According to research firm Gartner, Inc. in the August 10, 2007 report "Supply Chain and IT Strategies Must Align Around Five Key Themes," by Tim Payne, "Increasing pressure will come from supply chain executives who recognize the importance of process agility in delivering competitive advantages within an increasingly complex and chaotic operating environment.... The ability to assemble, disassemble and reassemble aspects of functionality, incorporate workflows and integrate to key data to support a business process will become critical in supply chain projects."

Cadec is known for over 30 years of innovative fleet management systems, including the first paperless logs, that help organizations reduce the risks and costs associated with running both private and for-hire trucking fleets. The company's mobile solutions measure driver performance, monitor critical safety and compliance aspects, optimize fuel consumption and accelerate delivery times. Cadec is renowned for its open and extensible platform, which can be easily customized to solve the most vexing fleet management challenges.

"The launch of PowerVue marks yet another first that Cadec has introduced to the market," said Cadec CEO Michael Baney. "It's the culmination of months of work that involved not just the efforts of our employees, but also the many customers who gave us their input on the ideal fleet management software, and then helped us refine the product by field testing it in their own environments. We're very proud of the result."
