Calgary Food Bank: Dealers Rolling Out All Stops for Annual Food Drive

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2009) - The Calgary Motor Dealers Association (CMDA) will be bringing a cavalcade of vehicles loaded with food to the Calgary Food Bank on Tuesday, December 22nd at 10am.

Since the 21st Annual Mayor's Food Drive began on November 21st, the CMDA has been raising awareness, collecting food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank and inspiring some friendly competition amongst all of Calgary's dealers. This final stop will be a delivery of everything that has been collected throughout the campaign.

During a tough economic year, especially in the automotive industry, the enthusiasm of the Calgary Motor Dealers in working to help Calgary's hungry is inspiring. Dealerships from rival manufacturers have come together to help Calgarians in need, regardless of what models they sell. Even the president and vice-president have taken part in their own competition.

Every year since 1988, the Mayor's Food Drive has brought Calgary businesses and community groups together to collect food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank. This year, in support of the event, the CMDA's 71 dealerships have been home to food and cash donation boxes, which have been filled by generous customers and staff members. Last year, the results were an amazing delivery of over $71,751 worth of donations in food and funds.

The media is invited to come out and support this CMDA "cavalcade" to the Food Bank loading docks on Monday, December 22nd beginning at 10am.

Onsite at the Calgary Food Bank will be representatives from the CMDA and Food Bank, all of whom will be available for interviews and photos.
