Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Signs Bill to Ban Use of Handheld Cell Phones in Cars

Mvox MV900 Bluetooth Handsfree Car Speakerphone Helps Drivers Avoid Fines

CUPERTINO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 22, 2006 -- Mvox's award-winning MV900 wireless, Bluetooth speakerphone is designed for mobile handsfree calling and will help California drivers avoid fines associated with the new ban recently signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mvox, www.mvox.com, is a leading provider of highly portable smart voice interface devices to facilitate real-time handsfree communications anywhere.

The MV900 is a powerful, full duplex speakerphone that is ideal for commuters to make voice-activated, handsfree calls on the go. With a loud, 120 dB speaker, advanced noise and echo cancellation, and highly accurate voice recognition, the MV900 allows drivers to enjoy high-quality, handsfree conversations while driving on noisy highways. The MV900 won the prestigious 2005 Product of the Year Award by PlanetPDA magazine for "being the world's smallest, loudest and clearest speakerphone available in its class."

According to the bill, Calif. drivers will need an ear piece or speakerphone to use their mobile phones while on the road. Motorists could face fines of up to $50 if they violate the law. It will take effect July 1, 2008, and is similar to existing laws in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Washington D.C.

Unlike corded and wireless headsets, the MV900 provides a safer, handsfree calling experience because users do not need to hold the cell phone when dialing, answering, and talking with Mvox's one-touch voice dialing.

Sally Li, VP of Marketing at Mvox, stated, "Cell phone use is the top cause of accidents triggered by distracted drivers, according to California Highway Patrol statistics. The Mvox MV900 was designed to reduce physical distractions by helping drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road."

The MV900 is available today with an MSRP of $160. At the size of a deck of cards, it weights 2.5 ounces, and features a continuous talking time of 3 hours and standby time of 200 hours. It comes with a free earphone worth $20, and a car visor clip and a neck strap for easy placements.
