Calvert County, MD Licenses Aegis/MSP Public Safety Software From New World Systems

TROY, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 31, 2006 -- New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions to the public sector for 25 years, announced today that Calvert County, MD recently signed a contract valued at approximately $3.7 million for its Microsoft Windows®-based Aegis®/MSP Public Safety software and services (including five years of maintenance).

Calvert County, MD licensed New World's integrated, multi-jurisdictional Aegis/MSP Computer Aided Dispatch(CAD), Law Enforcement Records Management, Fire Records Management, Mobile Computing, and Corrections Management, along with additional modules, to improve current software performance and service to the community.

"We were looking for a system that would provide us more stability during periods of heavy usage, which typically occur at critical times," said Project Manager Heath Starkweather. To find that system, Calvert County issued a detailed Request for Proposal with strict technical specifications. During the selection process, the County also spoke to a number of New World references. According to Starkweather, "After talking with their customers and discovering that they have a great reputation, we felt that the combination of technical leadership and service reputation made them an excellent fit. Our experience with New World Systems to date has been outstanding."

Developed using proven Microsoft technology, including industry standard Windows Server and SQL Server database, the Aegis/MSP suite is a stable and flexible solution for any size public safety agency. The familiar Windows platform also reduces training, allowing Calvert County to benefit from the integrated software quickly.

"This system will improve the quality of our data, our ability to analyze data and track trends, and will enable us to know where to allocate county resources," said Starkweather. "We also believe this software will help our officers provide a quicker response to calls for service by giving them access to information anywhere/anytime, which will allow them to stay in the field for longer periods of time," added Starkweather.

New World's software will help 90 officers, 30 communications personnel, and over 800 volunteer firefighters provide enhanced service to approximately 85,000 citizens. Implementation will begin immediately.
