Camiant Leads Charge to Unify Management of the Cable Network Edge

Company Announces Partnership With Five QAM Device Vendors to Enable Cable Operators to Maximize Bandwidth Efficiency for Video Services Such as SDV and VOD

MARLBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - January 14, 2008) - Camiant, Inc., the leading provider of policy control and application assurance technology to service providers worldwide, today announced its strategy to enable cable operators to deliver best-of-breed video solutions through maximized bandwidth efficiencies, by unifying management of resources at the edge of the cable network. By partnering with five QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) device manufacturers, including Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT), a leading provider of versatile and high performance video solutions for service providers, as well as ARRIS, BigBand Networks, Ericsson-Tandberg and Motorola, Camiant enables cable operators to maximize network resources and deliver superior quality of experience to video subscribers using its fully integrated Universal Edge Resource Manager (UERM) solution.

The strategic integrations implement the interface to Camiant's Universal Edge Resource Manager enabling cable operators to maximize bandwidth efficiency across services, including switched digital video (SDV) and video on demand (VOD). The integrated solutions are deployed in the cable operator network to allow the mixing and matching of vendor's universal edge QAM products for best-of-breed video and data QAM sharing solutions to drive more efficient bandwidth use.

According to a November 2007 Cable Digital News webinar, approximately 20% efficiency can be realized by QAM sharing.

"Camiant is making it easy for cable operators to deploy new edge devices and increase bandwidth to service groups without subscriber impact," said Ed Delaney, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Business Development. "We have integrated our edge solution with leading edge QAM devices to decrease management complexity enabling next-generation cable network operators to effortlessly interchange QAM devices to deliver the highest level of excellence in new and existing services."

The integrated solutions enable true QAM sharing, freeing QAMs from being tied to a particular service such as VOD. Camiant pools universal Edge QAM resources to support everything from VOD, to switched broadcast and data applications. In addition to enabling QAM sharing, Camiant enables operators to establish specific business rules and policies associated with video and data services.

Camiant's Executive Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Ed Delaney, will be available for interviews at SCTE Emerging Technologies 2008, held in Los Angeles, CA, January 14-16, 2008.

Camiant's Video Architect, Don Dewar, is speaking at the "LIVING ON THE EDGE (QAM): The Shape of Things To Come" panel at THE QAM BEFORE THE STORM conference also in Los Angeles on January 14, 2008.
